Cambodia Urges Peace Following Unprovoked Thai Military Aggression

Phnom Penh, September 27, 2025 — In a move that threatens the stability of the region, Thai military forces launched an aggressive attack on Cambodian military positions today. Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, the Under Secretary of State and Spokeswoman for the Ministry of National Defence of the Kingdom of Cambodia, issued a strong statement addressing this grave incident.

The attack, which took place at approximately 11:52 AM local time, involved heavy mortar and small arms fire directed at the Cambodian base located in the An Seh area. This unprovoked assault has prompted a heightened state of alert among Cambodian armed forces, who remain vigilant and fully prepared to safeguard the nation's territorial integrity.

In light of this development, the Cambodian military reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the existing ceasefire agreement with Thailand. Lt. Gen. Socheata emphasized the kingdom's dedication to fostering peace and stability through consistent and constructive dialogue. She called for all parties to engage in close cooperation to ensure a swift and peaceful resolution to the tensions.

"Cambodia calls upon Thailand to urgently return to the principles of peace and diplomacy," Lt. Gen. Socheata stated, urging Thailand to strictly adhere to the agreed-upon ceasefire terms. "We are committed to peace and the promotion of stability, which can only be achieved through mutual respect and collaboration."

As national and international media outlets monitor the situation, the Cambodian government remains hopeful for a peaceful resolution and an immediate cessation of hostilities.
